502 bad gateway – QuickBooks Online

So you go to log into QuickBooks Online and you get a blank page that says "502 Bad Gateway".

What do you do?  You cannot log in!  Arggghhhh! QuickBooks!!!!  You google "502 Bad Gateway" and wikipedia says "The server was acting as a gateway or proxy and received an invalid response from the upstream server." There are many other 5xx server error messages, all of which boil down to: "The server failed to fulfill an apparently valid request."  What?  Huh?  See this article for a complete rundown of the error message.

But in QuickBooks World, this means you have too many cookies in the browser settings and need to clear the cache.  It is a very simple process.  Click Chrome>Clear Browsing Data.  You can do the same for the other browsers, but you should be using the recommended browser Chrome for QuickBooks Online (unless you are using the app).  I have seen some crazy things happen when using MS Explorer, for example.

Below is a short video walking you through the steps of 502 Bad Gateway.  I hope it makes it super-easy for you to follow.  This is something you can do for the other annoying warning pages that pop up.  It is similar to restarting the computer back in the old days of QuickBooks Online.
